Pro General Petraeus, Anti Betray Us Editorial Cartoons

CURRENT NUMBER OF CARTOONS: 97

LAST UPDATE 24 April 2008

*NOTE: LINKS AND NEWS ADDED AS I COME ACROSS THEM. CHECK BACK HERE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE*

*NOTE ON SAVING IMAGES: If you save the images and they turn out as bmp format, you can change them to jpg or gif by changing the extension name, or open them using Microsoft Paint and save as jpg or gif, or just Save this entire web page and copy out from the saved web page folder.

The left goes all out and stoops lower than ever to smear and shout down General David Petraeus, the man in charge of the American forces attempting to stabilize Iraq. And the cartoonists of the Right rally to defend America’s champion and expose the Left’s crassness. (My own thoughts on why this may be.)

If you’re a newcomer to the topic, first go to to MoveOn.org for the ad’s sponsors and to see the high-res PDF of the original ‘Betray Us’ ad which caused a stir and an outcry against its petulant childishness. Pictured as jpeg below:

NYTMoveOnBetrayUsAd

Then read why the Right are righteously indignant at the rudeness offered the military man of honour. Michelle Malkin sums up the Left’s abuses best: Part 1 and Part 2. (See the first Day by Day cartoon about Code Pink’s disruptions below.) Updates on MoveOn criticism at No, let’s NOT “move on”.

My heroine Ann Coulter writes on how Democrats long ago already decided that Iraq must be a failure, no matter what facts may show. (See the Michael Ramirez cartoon with the Democrat donkey below.)

Sweetness & Light documents how the liberal-leaning NYT Gave $116K Discount For “Betray Us” Ad. Moonbattery is more vocal in its disgust with the fact that Times Gave MoveOn.org Massive Discount on Anti-Petraeus Attack Ad. (See the The People’s Cube and the third Day by Day cartoons below). The NY Times denies it, and gives a limping excuse that it was an ‘accident’, not politically motivated.

Daily Kos believes that the Right is so strongly defending Petraeus because he is wrong, not right. See The Jawa Report on Daily Kos: Thanks Hillary, For Slandering Petraeus for more.

But guess what? The Democrats in Congress seem to have been influenced by the outcry, because they voted 72-25 to condemn MoveOn. Looks like MoveOn crossed the line a little too far!

In fact, it seems that only 23% approve of MoveOn’s ad, while 58% disapprove. Of those, only 12% strongly approve while 42% strongly disapprove of MoveOn’s ad, with more stats through the link. So much for Kos’ presumed support of the majority of Americans! Via The Jawa Report. (See the second Chuck Assay cartoon below.)

For Petraeus’ report on the effectiveness of the US military surge, you can read a summary and view the graphs used at Wikipedia.

Note that Time.com did not publish any cartoons protesting the smear against Petraeus – only more cartoons mocking Bush’s plans for troop reductions. You can see where a publication’s political opinions lie from its editorial cartoons.

And if you’re doubtful if terrorists are really being stopped and not sure which side – order or terror – is superior and winning, these pics and videos should help you definitively decide who has the advantage… Because there have been More Than 23,000 Terrorists Killed! PWNAGE!!!

And now, for the mocking of the Left’s mocking! (Most images can be enlarged by clicking):

And Google is aiding MoveOn by banning ads critical of MoveOn’s Betray-Us smear! So much for free speech – it’s all one-way street here. Pic below via Michelle Malkin: Why did Google ban anti-MoveOn.org ads?:

And from Red Planet Cartoons, relating to how the lie-beral mainstream media refuses to publicize any good news about the situation in Iraq, such as how Al-Qaeda terrorists can no longer mix around with Iraqi civilians without getting killed, or how the violent death rate in Iraq is about the same as in South Africa:

And finally, MoveOn.org wasn’t the earliest to play on the words Petraeus and ‘betray us’. As far as my experience goes, Ryskind was the first time I saw it, in the below context:

  1. General Petraeus or General Betray Us? » Real Liberal Christian Church Says:

    […] scottthong.wordpress.com […]

  2. Joe Ciolino Says:

Why did Admiral Fallon, Petraeus’s superior, call him an “ass-kissing sycophant”?

Because he was, and is, Bush’s ass. He’s a whore and you all know that.

Go on with your neo-con chicken hawk agenda of stupidity. You’re not fooling anyone. Anyone with a brain, that is.

    Kudos to Move.on.

  3. Scott Thong Says:

Hahahah! Who’s the one trying to fool people here? Sorry, Lie-beral, but even if Petraeus IS Bush’s ass-kissing machine, he has gotten RESULTS in Iraq… Something which Dems (laik yoo) don’t want.

    http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/189766.php

So call him whatever you want, the only thing that matters to the common Iraqi and the non-traitor American is whether the terrorists are springing up daisies… Which they are in the THOUSANDS.

    http://scottthong.wordpress.com/2007/10/02/more-than-23000-terrorists-killed/

And more terrorists dead, means fewer innocents dying… As evidenced by the drop in the undertaking business:

    http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/189800.php

So keep spending money on your smear campaigns, I’ll continue being thankful that 20,000 freedom-haters are not raping my neighbors and beheading me right now.

  4. Hey Ignorant World - There is PEACE in Iraq! « BUUUUURRRRNING HOT Says:

[…] Pro General Petraeus, Anti Betray Us Editorial Cartoons for how it is not in the interests of the US Media to tell us the truth of peace in Iraq […]

  5. pound puppy Says:

Here we are, May 24, 2009 and liberals are quoting General Petraeus as a reliable expert whom we should all look up to and salute because he says we should close the prison at Guantanamo.

Whatever happened to the “Willful Suspension of Disbelief”?
