Voting in the upcoming general elections is the best way to influence change in this country for the better – not Bersih rallies or HINDRAF rallies (despite how impressive they may be and how over-reactionarily the government responds).

So if you don’t like how the current administration has handled things, is handling things, and plans to handles things in the future – vote them out of power.

The Barisan Nasional powers-that-be know that they’re privileged position is precarious. They even ask us not to vote for the Opposition even if we’re unhappy with the ruling party.

Do you need any more reason to get registered and get out and vote than a quote like that?

I need to register to vote. Have to go back Ipoh to do it, gah

  2. wits0 Says:

I’ve applied for the change of address from location C to D online on 23rd Oct and still this hasn’t taken effect according to this check.

The previous time I applied the old fashion way from location A to B and gave them 9 months and still that was no effected by election day. So I couldn’t vote. Sometimes one suspects this was deliberate.

Red tape and monolithic bereaucracy are excellent cover for electoral manipulation…

  4. wits0 Says:

Unless Bersih’s immediate demands are met, this makes things into a double insult.

  5. Anne Says:

Jamie, you just have to go to a post office anywhere in Malaysia.

  6. keanloong Says:

i agree with wits0. it makes no difference whether we vote or not (not that i’m advocating non-voting!) if the BERSIH demands are not met.

how can our votes count for anything when BN has countless 100 years old ghosts rising from the grave to vote for them? for every 1 living person who votes, BN will resurrect 10 ghost voters!

BUT if anyone of you eligible people who have not registered to vote, you probably deserved the idiotic people that is ruling our lives.

    Dear sir/Madam,

  8. Nasaei Ahmad Says:

keanloong, yes I also doubt..highly doubt it as yo do. Barisan Najis will do anything…aaaanyything possible, moral or immoral..just to stay in power (power=$$$$). Briberies, corrupt practices, intimidating, cheating, bringing out voter to the other voting areas (ticket name: “persempadanan semula” etc. That was proven, fact!

    Really satanic !

I just got to know my 2 brothers haven’t register themselves for voting. Any of you kind enough to provide me the lead to get them registered? so that together we can do our part to kick some asses.

Their registered address is Old Klang Road, Happy Garden. 58200 KL

    Thank you.

  14. Jeyaraj Christopoher Rajaraoi Says:

Why is it my voting centers are different for Satate elctions and Parliamentary elections? Is oit not commonsense and avoidance of much problems to vote in the same center for the two candidates/two posts in the same place?

  15. John Deep Says:

I have been living overseas for many years. On a recent trip back to KL, I decided to register as a voter but when I went to the Pos Malaysia to do so, the counter clerk told me I was already registered at a Kampun Melayu in for Hulu Kelang, Selangor. I dont recall registrating myself as a voter but I am already in the Register!! I wonder if some political party used my vote at last few elections since I have never voted in my life, having lived abroad!

Should I lodge a complaint ? To whom? Any suggestions out there?

Have to agree with you there malifiecent… They’re there to fight and kill, not to love.

Saya harap pihak-pihak tertentu yg. memberikan kerayatan mudah kpd warga asing faham bahawa tindakan mereka tidak “menguntungkan” mereka akhirnya, bahkan memakan diri. Bukankah mereka memegang amanah ? So, khianat adalah dosa.
This is really food for thouhgt, for you, the “unsmart” traitors !

FYI, the malaysia-chronicle articles (People sharing the same MyKad number, Women married to women, in the army?!) now point to dead links (404 – Item not found)

  20. Scott Thong Says:

Annoyingly, they tend to remove older articles. I will find a replacement when I can. That’s one use of amateur blogs, eh? Keeping a record of for-profit news outlets’ postings.
