Actually, if more responsible private citizens owned and carried guns, gun massacres would be far less common.
Here’s proof: The Virginia Tech massacre killed 32 people in a place where guns are banned. Of course, the murderer ignored that law! Whereas, at the New Life Church, the killer only murdered 2 people before an armed defender took him down.
There are also many other cases of gun maniacs being stopped early by gun-wielding citizens.
However, self-defense from crime is not the only reason for the Second Amendment. See this picture for the other reason.
