“As a student of history, I also know civilisation’s debt to Islam. It was Islam – at places like Al-Azhar University – that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe’s Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.”
See the link for more analysis of Obama’s flunking history, but I’m focusing on just two of his ginormous errors.
As a full-blooded Chinese, I am appalled and incensed that Obama couldn’t even bother to check Wikipedia to find out what everyone else knows – that the magnetic compass and printing were two of the Four Great Inventions of ancient China.
Our inventions! You ignorant, pompous and condescending American liberal! You tremendous suck-up and political chameleon. Yes, you are! Why else would you three times deny that America is a Christian nation even though it has the largest Christian population in the world, while claiming that America could be considered one of the largest Muslim nations?
And you know what the kicker is? The way that the Islamic empire got ahold of those two proudly Chinese inventions among many others was by forcing Chinese prisoners to reveal their culturally inherited techniques, most likely by torture (which happened to be far more brutal than sissy modern CIA methods, but probably comparable to mutilation techniques used by modern jihadists).
I wonder what the Close-Gitmo-and-Waterboarding-is-Illegal-in-Chief would have to say about that. (Club Gitmo being actually a very lavish comfy place indeed.)
Indeed, I wonder what the modern Chinese would have to say about his historical revisionism. Give him an earful, Chairman Wen!
See here for the rest of his stupidity.
