Tour de Japon – Music From Final Fantasy

Nobuo Uematsu is by far my favourite composer – I and many others consider him the best in the world. If you don’t know who he is, in brief he is the main composer for all the earlier Final Fantasy games, and also the amazing organist for my favourite rock band, The Black Mages.

My brother Jamie recently forwarded me two links to the Tour de Japon performances on YouTube. It’s a live orchestra rendition of some of the Final Fantasy music pieces. Beautiful, beautiful music!

Taizo Takemoto

                          The conductor, Taizo Takemoto

The singers for Maria and Draco

                                   The orchestra’s violins

Nobuo Uematsu takes the baton in the last piece

A little research and browsing, and I found and collected the links to each of the pieces. Click and enjoy!

I personally recommend pieces 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (Opera “Maria and Draco” – the famous FFVI Opera scene).

1. Opening, Bombing Mission (FFVII)

2. At Zanarkand (FFX)

3. Ronfaure (FFXI)

4. Aerith’s Theme (FFVII)

5. The Oath (FFVIII)

6. You’re Not Alone (FFIX)

7. Main Theme of FFV (FFV)

8. Main Theme of FFVII (FFVII)

9. Theme of Love (FFIV)

10. Final Fantasy I-III Medley 2004 (FFI, FFII, FFIII)

11. Opera “Maria and Draco” Part A and Part B (FFVI)

12. From FFVII Advent Children (Advent Children)

13. Final Fantasy Main Theme

If any of the links fail, you can always use the fail-safe YouTube Search for Tour de Japon. Cheers!

I like Nuobo Uematsu’s music and am in fact a fan of his. I have posted some of the music scores on my blog under the page music scores which I have found in FF websites. Scores like Tifa theme (FFVII) , Aeris Theme. I shall post more of his music. You can find the music sheet at :

The FF music composition has contributed immensely to the excitement of the game and it is no accident that Final Fantsay is one of the most popular games ever.(4th best selling after Mario, Pokemon and the SIms)

His music is delightful to the ear, not too difficult technically and certainly he is one of the best composers of music in the world and the very best in video game music. Thanks for posting this video.

Judging from the screenshots, looks like you have the DVD. Where did you buy it, or do you know where I can get the CD of this since what I have downloaded from the internet has lost most of its original quality.

Please email me back, I will forget to come back and check. Thank you.

I’ve been searching high and low for the dvd/cd! I’ve been resisting the temptation to download them off the net because I know the quality isn’t going to be as good… Anyone knows where I might get my hands on a copy?

  6. Scott Thong Says:

Try the link above I provided. No idea if you can really buy it though.

Just so people know, you cannot buy the dvd as it is limited in number and was only “given” to people on Uematsu’s official fanclub. These people will probably not sell their copies if they were willing to pay money to be part of his fanclub. But keep your eyes peeled on auction sites and you may get lucky… but you’d need to be really really lucky!!!
