But it’s not all bad news in Johor this weekend. If you don’t know, it’s standard procedure to pin the blame on drug addicts for most non-group, non-methodically-organized robberies and other crimes.
From The Star 25 Aug 2007:
Drug ring and car theft gang busted
JOHOR BARU: Police have smashed a drug syndicate and car theft gang in the last few days.
Acting on a tip-off, narcotics police raided a house in Taman Sentosa on Monday and arrested two men, both 23. They found 2,950 Ecstasy pills worth RM120,000 in a bag.
Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said police believed the men were traffickers.
“We are ascertaining whether the drugs are for the local or overseas market,” he said.
The next day, police intercepted a parcel with 2.1kg of ganja at Taman Perindustrian Tampoi Jaya.
“It was supposed to be couriered to a location in Sarawak,” SAC Mohd Mokhtar told a press conference.
In another raid, CID police smashed a car theft gang and arrested two men, aged 31 and 33, and a 26-year-old Indonesian woman at a house in Taman Daya on Wednesday.
A Mitsubishi Lancer and BMW car, believed to be stolen, were recovered along with MyKad, credit cards, nine Allen keys, key-making equipment and several mobile phones.
SAC Mohd Mokhtar thanked the public for their co-operation and urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-221 2999.
Police recorded 1,721 drug-related cases from February to July with the arrest of 1,006 people, he said.
