Tears in Heaven – Atheist Despair Version

Here are the lyrics to my atheist-oblivion-of-nonexistence-after-death rewrite of Eric Clapton’s classic, Tears in Heaven (original lyrics hereYoutube here).

Remember to imagine the original song’s context of losing your young child, but sing this version without the hope and joy of one day meeting again in (atheist pooh-poohed) heaven.

——————————————

Tears in Oblivion

You won’t know my name
I don’t believe in heaven
Things won’t be the same
‘Cause there’s only oblivion

Religion’s wrong
Farewell, so long
‘Cause you know that I just long
For oblivion

You won’t hold my hand
‘Cause we won’t be existing
You won’t help me stand
We won’t know what we’re missing

No joy above
No long lost loves
There’s no faith, hope or love
In oblivion

Atheists have no hope
In life after death (~ooo)
Once you die you’re gone
And then that is that, that is that~

[Sentimental guitar bridge]

Beyond the door
It’s blank I’m sure
And I know I’ll be no more
In oblivion

Life’s a short, sad game
Atheists just despise heaven
Even though it’s lame
Atheists prefer oblivion

Hope that we’re right
‘Cause Hell’s a fright
And that’s why all atheists fight
For oblivion

Now just watch the atheists fight
For oblivion

If atheism is correct, then life is just a rollercoaster of suffering and despair, ending in an oblivion of non-existence. But at least it won’t matter to us, since we won’t exist anymore.

IF.

Fortunately some atheists find statement like yours funny. It cheers me up to find such deliberate denial. What is next- Atheism; it is wrong because it makes me feel bad?

  2. Scott Thong Says:

    Atheism…

It is better because hope is for dweebs!

Lifelong spiritual pain doesn’t need religious anesthesia!

2 billion Communists say it is right, and who are the 100 million dead victims to argue?

    ———————————-

Lol! Ironic and somewhat sarcastic – 281 tricks to irritate an atheist (the atheist blogging it is the one who got annoyed apparently)

Lolling at each other makes the world go rofl!

  3. Jimbo Says:

Thank GOD there are no tears in heaven – that means my mother can’t look down and see the stupid things I do – cuz if she did, she’d cry. 🙂

  4. matcoker Says:

I think I like this version of the song better!

  5. Samuel Skinner Says:

Hope is for people who would rather not work for change- baby killer.

Lifelong spiritual pain? I think that is called isolation and abuse. Not really spiritual.

2 billion communists is wrong. The actual number is about 10 million. Not everyone in a communist country is part of the party. Not all atheists are communists. Not all idiots have a wordpress account.

281 ways that are wrong- you think all of them are good? Did you flunk logical thinking or do you just hate humanity?

In true Communist regimes, religion is forbidden.

The Soviet Union was an officially atheistic state. The stated goal was control, suppression, and, ultimately, the elimination of religious beliefs.

During China’s Cultural Revolution religious affairs of all types was persecuted and discouraged by the Communists.

Ever since the rise of communism in North Korea, free religious activities no longer exist as the government sponsors religious groups only to create an illusion of religious freedom.

So when belief in God is nonexistant, what does that makes the Communists?

Hey troll, READ THE LINKED POST before you trash it. It’s by an atheist who is making fun of the ill-formed arguments religious believers use against atheists.

    Sheesh! Trollage!

Hope is for people who would rather not work for change- baby killer.

    Says the abortion supporter.

Apparently so. Many have no Internet homebase, so they just troll around leaving combative and highly inaccurate opinions that they pass off as fact until someone points out a reference to them.

Funnily, I tend to enjoy my life…

    Atheists have no hope
    In life after death (~ooo)
    Once you die you’re gone
And then that is that, that is that~

Which is why one should concentrate on the here and now and rather stride to leave the world a better place instead of wasting time with supernatural hogwash.

  8. Samuel Skinner Says:

First of on the subject of religion- did you know China is know encouraging religious beliefs? Yep they are Marxist and take opiate of the masses seriously.

In true utopian communist regimes the government is secular. It is in the communist manifest.

Communism itself refers to the government control of all property- an idea many groups have championed, such as the levels (England), the Enragees (France), and every single peasent rebellion through out history (debatable, but they did want to take over the government and enact redistribution). All those groups weren’t atheist.

I did read the link post. I know all the arguements and they all sucked. You seemed to be supporting their use.

I don’t know what a troll is. I can’t respond to an insult on the off chance it is accurate. Note- just looked it up on wiki (now with 60% more liberal and reality based bias). It is to post controvesial messages on posts in order to elicit responces. Last I checked the idea of NOT killing innocent people wasn’t controversial. Your depictions of me as a troll are inaccurate- the correct adjective is asshole. I haven’t posted anything inaccurate and you haven’t pointed out how I am wrong. I short- you are an idiot.

There is two problems with your responce about baby killer. First, things are unethical wheter or not other people do them- that is moral absolutism which you claim to defend. Second fetus and baby are two different words and concepts (despite the rights attempt to hijack English). A more appropriate insult would be “cow and chicken killer”. However I find it deeply disturbing that you continue to condone the idea you are okay with killing innocent people.

Yep I have no hope after death- just like I had no hope before life. You see hope is an emotion that occurs in your brain and once you die your brain stops working. Oh, you meant afterlife? Crock of shit, that’s what it is.

  9. Aaron Says:

Samuel is further proof that Atheists are so miserable about their perceived plight that they want everyone else to be miserable with them.

  10. hutchrun Says:

Vikings used to leave the babies out in Winter. If the baby lived, then he would make a good warrior. Maybe atheists and like oriented would start the trend and that should help in the culling.

  11. The Artful Nudger Says:

    Parody: A-
    Rhymes: C
    Meter: B+

It’s doing well enough until you reach the last few verses. Then you make the same mistakes that lots of apologists make – that atheists for some reason resent heaven or are afraid of hell, and thus cling to the idea of nonexistence after death.

Being afraid of hell is like being afraid of the monster under the bed or the boogeyman. It only makes sense if you believe they’re real threats. We don’t.

That being said, the song on the whole is very clever. Save for the last bit.

  12. Scott Thong Says:

Thanks Nudger. Yeah, I know the last lines are totally inaccurate – but hey, so is the entire basis of Boney M’s Ma Baker!
