Hamas scion converts to Christianity, respects Israel

Haaretz Weekend Magazine has a fantastic profile coming up on Masab Yousef, whose father is the top Hamas leader in the West Bank.

The younger Yousef, who once assisted his father politically, has moved to California and converted to Christianity.

If that didn’t stop you dead in your tracks, this will: “Send regards to Israel, I miss it. I respect Israel and admire it as a country.”

A preview of the profile was published online today, and it’s clear Yousef is new wine in new wineskins. Thanks to Big Mike for sending this along. I can’t wait to read the rest of the article, but I’ll have to. Hopefully this excerpt will hold us over until then:

Hamas’ Christian convert: I’ve left a society that sanctifies terror

By Avi Issacharoff

A moment before beginning his supper, Masab, son of West Bank Hamas leader Sheikh Hassan Yousef, glances at the friend who has accompanied him to the restaurant where we met. They whisper a few words and then say grace, thanking God and Jesus for putting food on their plates.

It takes a few seconds to digest this sight: The son of a Hamas MP who is also the most popular figure in that extremist Islamic organization, a young man who assisted his father for years in his political activities, has become a rank-and-file Christian. “I’m now called Joseph,” he says at the outset.

Masab knows that he has little hope of returning to visit the Holy Land in this lifetime.

“I know that I’m endangering my life and am even liable to lose my father, but I hope that he’ll understand this and that God will give him and my family patience and willingness to open their eyes to Jesus and to Christianity. Maybe one day I’ll be able to return to Palestine and to Ramallah with Jesus, in the Kingdom of God.”

Nor does he attempt to hide his affection for Israel, or his abhorrence of everything representing the surroundings in which he grew up: the nation, the religion, the organization.

“Send regards to Israel, I miss it. I respect Israel and admire it as a country,” he says.

“You Jews should be aware: You will never, but never have peace with Hamas. Islam, as the ideology that guides them, will not allow them to achieve a peace agreement with the Jews. They believe that tradition says that the Prophet Mohammed fought against the Jews and that therefore they must continue to fight them to the death.”

Is that the justification for the suicide attacks?

“More than that. An entire society sanctifies death and the suicide terrorists. In Palestinian culture a suicide terrorist becomes a hero, a martyr. Sheikhs tell their students about the ‘heroism of the shaheeds.'”

And yet, in spite of the criticism of the place he left, California can’t make the longings disappear.

“I miss Ramallah,” he says. “People with an open mind. … I mainly miss my mother, my brothers and sisters, but I know that it will be very difficult for me to return to Ramallah soon.”

The continuation of this article will appear in the Haaretz Weekend Magazine

It would be a mistake to see this as some sort of watershed moment. But it is a prime example of the power of religion, both for good and evil. We are so moved philosophically by He whom we place our faith in. And history offers testimony to how different visions of one God can produce a lot, a lot of bloodshed.

Yusef is Arabic for Joseph, but because of that guy who wore the technicolor dreamcoat it seems an even more fitting new name for this stranger in a stranger land.

Watch out for this apostate, traitor to the Palestinian cause and -most of all – newly recruited ZionoCrusader to be targeted by death threats and murder attempts.

Remember, these people don’t even care for the lives of their own children (4 month old babies, children, their own son) – you think they’ll let this guy go in peace rather than nail-bomb some Jewish schoolbuses in retribution?

(Yes, he converted to Christianity not Judaism, but do Hamas and similar terrorist scum ever need a valid excuse to do what they do?)

And remember that his father is still a Hamas MP who has seriously lost face with this ‘defection’. Take notes from similar cases of ‘honour killings’ which similarly involve a father being ‘shamed’ by the actions of his ‘rebellious’ children.

Oh, that’s just funny! That must be how my Oliver Stone-idolizing mother felt when I started listening to Rush Limbaugh and referring to Speaker Gingrich as “Uncle Newt” all the time.

Still, what I think is missing from the story is the man’s real motivation. There has to be a woman involved somehow.

  2. A. S. Mathew Says:

Recently, one of the top ranking movie star of India “Nagma” came to
Jesus Christ. She was very successful in her career, tried politics but
meditated to commit sucide, but found peace and joy in Jesus Christ.
Her father was Hindu and mother is a Muslim. Masab Yousef found
joy and love in his life through Jesus Christ. Thousands of people are
coming to Jesus Christ around the world every day because Jesus can
give; peace, job and abundant life which the world or other religious
leaders can give. God bless you brother Yousef.

    Take a look this
Islam: What the west needs to know

Virtually every major Western leader has over the past several years expressed the view that Islam is a peaceful religion and that those who commit violence in its name are fanatics who misinterpret its tenets. This claim, while widely circulated, rarely attracts serious public examination. Relying primarily on Islam’s own sources, this documentary demonstrates that Islam is a violent, expansionary ideology that seeks the destruction or subjugation of other faiths, cultures, and systems of government.

“Nature is cruel; therefore we are also entitled to be cruel. When I send the flower of German youth into the steel hail of the next war without feeling the slightest regret over the precious German blood that is being spilled, should I not also have the right to eliminate millions of an inferior race that multiplies like vermin?” – Adolf Hitler – circa 1938

“We have suffered so much that it only steels us to fanatical resolve to hate our enemies a thousand times more and to regard them for what they are destroyers of an eternal culture and annihilators of humanity. Out of this bate a holy will is born to oppose these destroyers of our existence with all the strength that God has given us and to crush them in the end.” – Adolf Hitler – 24 February 1945

The current “cast-lead” operation is not the first operation against Gaza. In the 1956 Sinai Campaign, the IDF was forced to attack Gaza to respond to ongoing shelling by Egyptian forces and to rebuff murderous attacks by Fedayeen terrorists (keeping mind of course, that all this was before the 1967 war, before “Palestinians” existed.).

During the Sinai campaign, the Gaza Strip was captured by Israeli forces (November 1956), placing a military government in control. Israel then retreated from Sinai and the Gaza Strip under international pressure, completing its evacuation from the Strip on March 6, 1957. The Egyptians returned to the Gaza Strip and set up their own military government. Emergency UN forces (that were formed as part of a UN resolution passed on November 4, 1956) were deployed along the Egyptian border with the Gaza Strip. (source, IDF spox)

The following historical flier is from November 1956.

“The Will to Win: The First Condition to Victory”

    November 1956

Soldiers and Battalion Commanders: We meet again — old fighters and young, experienced with war and glory from battles in the South and the Negev. We are a massive force of builders and residents, people of the cities and fields, people of work and toil. An Army of bushels and the sword. The IDF will attack Egypt by land, sea and air, a death blow.

Tonight, our forces will attack Gaza!

Gaza: A live limb, torn from the State of Israel. [Now] a punch aimed at Israel, A base for murderous Egpytian [attacks], Fedayeen Center, and a death threat to our security.

And across [from Gaza]: Nachal Oz, Beeri, Kissufim, Nirim, a chain of flourishing settlements, opposite a hostile border. Our settlements continue to work, despite the threats, the rocket shelling and the sacrifices, as they defend with their bodies our Southern border.

Southern Settlements: Now Your Time Has Come!

Warriors: Hit our enemies, return, and hit them again!
Until they are destroyed by the sword of our battalion’s fighters.

    Ahead, towards battle and victory!

    [signed] Battalion Commander.

At the Jawa Report, Stable Hand shows a ‘Queers for Palestine’ banner at a pro-Hamas rally in San Francisco and asks whether these people realize what Hamas would do to them.

Good question, but you should know that things aren’t much better for homosexuals in the ‘moderate’ ‘Palestinian Authority,’ where they still don’t admit that Yasser Arafat died of AIDS either.
