United Nations Squanders $23 Million in Foreign Aid on ‘Beautiful’ Ceiling

Via The Jawa Report, yet another reason why the UN is the biggest, most inept, most hypocritical waste of EVERYTHING in the ENTIRE WORLD.

And it looks like crap too. Upside-down crap.

From FOX:

The U.N. Human Rights Council, frequently accused of coddling some of the world’s most repressive governments, threw itself a party in Geneva Tuesday that featured the unveiling of a $23 million mural paid for in part with foreign aid funds.

In a ceremony attended by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Spanish artist Miquel Barcelo told the press that his 16,000-square-foot ceiling artwork reminded him of “an image of the world dripping toward the sky” — but it reminded critics of money slipping out of relief coffers.

“In Spain there’s a controversy because they took money out of the foreign aid budget — took money from starving children in Africa — and spent it on colorful stalactites,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of U.N. Watch.

Ban himself praised the piece and thanked Barcelo for putting his “unique talents to work in the service of the world.” The artwork will soar above the Human Rights Council’s chambers at U.N.’s European headquarters in Geneva, which may soon undergo a $1 billion renovation — but only after a $1.9 billion facelift of the U.N.’s New York offices is completed.

Remember just what the UN is doing with your donations and tax money the next time they bloviate about ‘the necessary costs of saving the world from global warming’.

James (I’m not James Bond) Ban and company don’t have to worry about starving or sleeping in the open. Or being shot at. That, they leave to the UN Peace-keeping force, the common foot soldiers who are grist for the mill. They just have to worry about getting to the next big diplomatic do on time. By jet. Staying in 5-star hotels. In airconditioned comfort. Banqueting on the next menu of exquisite delicacies. Served (serviced?) by local beauties. The next real or UN created “crisis” simply means one more opportunity to confer, talk and discuss, with no quick solution in sight. A quick solution would simply mean an end of another source of profiteering, or to rip off the donors, to put it succinctly. Like a lawyer who allows a case to drag on for years instead of months, thus ensuring a steady income far into the future, they see no purpose in the search for an end to any crisis. Global warming will remain on their agenda for a long time yet. It’s too wonderful a source of monetary profiteering..

In the past when artists believed in God rather than things like Obama and the U.N., astonishing art was produced like the ceiling paintings of Tiepolo, among the most noble creations in history. Today, we get garish dripping paint-gobs with all the color sensitivity of a black velvet painting sold on the sidewalks of Tijuana. Is it mere coincidence that a largely godless body of artists produces a largely third-rate body of art?

No God, no faith, no vision, no inspiration…just an overpriced excuse for a painting. Elephants could do better, and so could gorillas..if they could get up onto the ceiling.
