From The Star 31 Aug 2009:
KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister has called on Malaysians to “repair the bridges and tear down the divisive walls” that exist among the races.
Bridges and races eh? Where have we heard that before?
Oh yeah. From just a year and a half ago.
From The Star 14 Jan 2008:
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, specially invited to the First Alliance of Civilisations (AoC) annual forum here from tomorrow will explain how Malaysia was able to bridge the religious and racial gaps among its people.
I guess that to UMNO/BN, anyone else making gains during an election constitutes a devastating deterioration in the foundations of the trans-racial bridges.
Which is funny – considering that the PM himself considers the core parties of BN as part of an ethnic prison, less support for Bn should be indicative of strengthening bridge foundations.
Well, at least he acknowledged that there are bridges to repair in the first place.
(Just snarking an observation, everyone. Happy Merdeka!)
