Matthew 5:43-48 does not seem to fit the Limited Atonement view that God loves only the Elect. Taking the Vocational Sonship aspect (a son grows up to do the same job that their father does), we are told to love everyone including our enemies – people who hate us – in order to be like our Father in heaven. But Reprobates will never love God. They will always be His enemies. And according to Limited Atonement, He will never love them. How then can loving our enemies make us similar to what our Heavenly Father is like? If Limited Atonement is true, then the passage should ask us to hate those who will never love us.
