THIS is what we can do for RPK (who just checked into the Kamunting Hotel for insulting the country’s leadership and Islam), all the other detainees and their families. The OBJECTIVES of this campaign is to (1) Demand for RPK’s freedom (2) Demand for freedom of all ISA detainees (3) Demand for the repeal of the EVIL ISA!

PLEASE help distribute this information as far and wide as you can, act on it – you DO NOT have to do it alone, find a few people, not necessarily a big group, 5 maybe 10, and spread the word and action around, if we do it with our hearts and souls, it will catch on, like fire…

Raja Petra Kamarudin Public Enemy Number 1

Wanted Raja Petra Kamarudin

Image of just RPK in Hannibal Lecter mask at bottom of full post.

If you’ve watched The Silence of the Lambs, you’ll recognize that as Hannibal Lecter’s anti-biting face mask strapped to RPK’s face.

The symbolism is that the BN authorities consider RPK a brutal, dangerous, insane, almost inhuman monster whom they must lock away for all time.

Sign the petition to free RPK!

In tribute to Raja Petra Kamarudin, who has just been ordered detained without trial for 2 years in the Kamunting detention camp under the ISA. Susan Loone has more on that.

Totally Outrageous!: Newspapers Reports, ISA Arrests and Blatant Double Standards

September 13, 08

UPDATES on ISA arrests at Susan Loone.

So let me get this straight…

Utusan Malaysia publishes a hearsay report accusing Teresa Kok of inflammatory conduct. Teresa Kok is arrested under the ISA on the basis of that insinuation.

Sin Chew publishes a well documented report of how Ahmad Ismail uttered inflammatory remarks in public. Sin Chew’s reporter is arrested under the ISA.

And Ahmad Ismail only gets three years… Of being excluded from UMNO.

Can it get any more blatantly double-standard than this????!!!!

Ahmad Ismail: A Monty Python Sketch

Dedicated to the three newspapers facing show cause letters, and especially the Sin Chew reporter Tan Hoon Cheng arrested under the ISA…

For reporting about Ahmad Ismail’s racism which merely got him suspended from UMNO for 3 years.

The Ahmad Ismail Sketch

An arrogant-looking man is standing on a street corner by a political party’s banner, shouting his message at passers-by.

Arrogant Looking Man: Chinese are squatters! No equal rights for these pendatang! We will push the Chinese, push them, push them!!!

Reporter Lady who passes by is shocked by his outburst, and quickly goes into a nearby police station.

Reporter Lady: Excuse me, officer. I’d like to report an incident of Hate Speech.

Officer #1: Ya ke? Serious ni! Err, what did this Hate Speech sound like, madam?

Reporter Lady: Well, it was about the Chinese being squatters, and ‘push the Chinese’, and…

Officer #1 looks shocked.

Officer #1: Stop right there! I’m sorry madam, but I will have to arrest you for Hate Speech.

Reporter Lady: Wh-what?! But I’m not giving any Hate Speech!

Officer #1: Don’t take me for a fool, madam. You were saying it right here in front of me!

UPDATE midnight 13 Sept 2008: Sin Chew reporter and Teresa Kok ISAed.

Via Jelas.info:

The Home Ministry has asked three newspapers to show cause on why action should not be taken against them over their news coverage on a number of political issues.

Confirming this, the ministry’s Publications Control and Al-Quran Texts Unit secretary Che Din Yusof told Malaysiakini today that the three papers were English daily The Sun, Chinese newspaper Sin Chew Daily and opposition PKR’s party organ Suara Keadilan.

He said the ministry has issued the show-cause letters yesterday and the three papers had been given a week to reply.

According to him, The Sun was asked to show cause for allegedly “manipulating and playing up numerous sensitive issues”.

Meanwhile, Sin Chew has been targeted for its recent reports on the racial slur controversy involving Umno division leader Ahmad Ismail.

If a public figure says something seditious, and a newspaper reports it, the government goes after….. the newspaper?? 😐
