LATEST UPDATE 3.20pm 4 July 2008, from STAR sms alert:

Police will investigate both statutory declarations made by PI P.Balasubramaniam even though yesterday’s has been retracted, says Deputy IGP

See First Lawyer Americk Says P. Balasubramaniam Coerced Into Retracting Statutory Declaration for more on that.

Wah ha, the plot thickens until it’s a conserve! Will we have powdered stock next?

From 4.09 pm STAR sms alert:

PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin lodged report calling police to probe allegations in Raja Petra, P.Balasubramaniam’s declarations

And also this: First Lawyer Americk Says P. Balasubramaniam Coerced Into Retracting Statutory Declaration

Okay, now I totally don’t know which of <a href=”“>the conspiracy theories to bet on…

——————————————-

Another round of shocking! Now Balasubramaniam retracts what he said about Najib vis-a-vis sex, murder and Altantuya. He says he was forced to sign yesterday’s statutory declaration!

So plot twisty and conspiracy-ey!

Who is pressuring P. Balasubramaniam? Did they force him to make a false Statutory Declaration yesterday, or are they forcing him to retract the truth now?

Are we now witnessing two elephants trampling the grass as they battle… Elephants with a viper for one’s trunk and a cobra for the other’s?

Via two STAR sms alerts, 11am 4 July 2008:

Razak Baginda’s PI P.Balasubramaniam has retracted several paragraphs of his statutory declaration which he made yesterday

PI P.Balasubramaniam retracted that DPM introduced Razak Baginda to Altantuya Shariibuu and that DPM had a sexual relationship with her

From The Star Online:

PI retracts parts of declaration

KUALA LUMPUR: Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda’s private investigator P. Balasubramaniam on Friday retracted several paragraphs of his statutory declaration which he made yesterday.

Among the parts retracted are that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak introduced Razak to Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu and that Najib had a sexual relationship with her.

On Thursday, Balasubramaniam claimed in a statutory declaration that the police had omitted pertinent information allegedly linking Najib with the Altantuya murder case.

Balasubramaniam on Thursday declared he had informed police what Razak had purportedly told him prior to Altantuya’s murder.

He revealed yesterday the content of the statutory declaration at a press conference organised by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim together with PKR office bearers, MPs and lawyers at the party’s headquarters.

He said Razak had told him that he was introduced to Altantuya by Najib at a diamond exhibition in Singapore and that Najib had told him that he (Najib) and Altantuya had had a sexual relationship and that “she was susceptible to anal intercourse”.

Balasubramaniam said Razak had also told him that Najib had asked him (Razak) “to look after” Altantuya, who was also known as “Aminah”, because he did not want her to harass him now that he was the Deputy Prime Minister.

He claimed Razak had told him that Altantuya had wanted money as she felt entitled to a US$500,000 (RM1.65mil) commission from a submarine deal that she had assisted the Malaysian Government secure in Paris; and that Najib, Razak and Altantuya all had dinner together in Paris.

‘Susceptible to anal intercourse’?!!! That’s exactly the kind of offense being leveled at Anwar! Really does sound like it was made up by someone as part of some conspiracy

Important part of the statutory declaration can be read at I Am Malaysian – Bala: I lied.. (And yes, I am being a one-stop link-shop.)

Full second statutory declaration is at Rocky’s Bru – I did 1st July SD under duress, Bala swear.

And see also Disquiet – Why Balasubramaniam’s First Declaration Is Still Significant for some insight as to why the cops will still investigate the earlier SD (see top of this post you are reading for details).

PI Subie has achieved his purpose: cast more aspersions on the character of the DPM. He now retracts…what else could he do, given the fact that his words are based on hearsay? When abdul razak denies everything, the PI would end up somewhere unpleasant (to put it mildly).

  3. simon thong Says:

Remember this: the facts don’t matter to all of them, politicians and their kind. It’s a game of chess, with very high stakes at risk.

  4. hutchrun Says:

More grist for the mill eh what?
As I read it, I got the impression that what he said was told him by Razak Baginda. So it was hearsay.
It may have been pointed out to him that as hearsay it should not be in the SD which should only contain facts.
But like I said, more grist for the mill.

  5. Marty Says:

!!! really. I wonder why. say only, generate lots and lots of buzz, and then retract? made under duress? by whom?

  6. hutchrun Says:

Haha maybe Anwar threatened to liwat the PI if he dint make the earlier SD so `duress`.

Bala dismissed his earlier lawyer. Then Bala says he made the SD under duress.
The Bar Disciplinary Comitteee had better investigate the 1st lawyer on this “duress” thingy. Separately, the police too should take action on the lawyer for intimidation on Bala.

Update 1pm: Something in Malaysiakini you may have missed:

“Balasubramaniam’s lawyer has told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam was contacted by the police soon after his press conference yesterday. He last saw his client after dropping him off at the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm.”

Contacted by the police directly after PC? Last seen being handed over to the cops? Retraction first thing next day?………………………

It is so obvious that even a blind man can see why this poor man has to retract his SD after he went to the POLICE station. If Anwar has to seek sanctuary in an embassy where can this poor man go to seek refuge. Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq0cQuBwAyg and learn.

  14. KevinP Says:

    5. In addition, I wish to retract the entire contents of my statutory declaration dated July 1, 2008. I was compelled to affirm the said statutory declaration dated July 1, 2008 under duress.

I think he retracted the ENTIRE SD.

  15. g0on3r Says:

sounds like lot of conspiracy going on. but i stick with his first SD. the first always the truth. maybe someone should put him inside turkey embassy then we can hear the truth.

Balasubramaniam retracts the SD! I was actually waiting for it. He made it with his lawyers advice! And now he retracts it with his lawyers advice, with the lawyers still being present? Something not right or something wrong somewhere?? Tak pe le, kita rakyat Malaysia, We are supposed to believe all this. Ok La Najib is perfect.

We all are supposed to say we believe. hey, true or not our deputy prime minister (notice all written in non-capital letters), IS purported to be involved in the Atlantuya murder (sorry got only D minus for spelling at college), and the matter should be investigated promptly and fairly. There are very few head of states in the world with this kind of curriculum vitae.
We should be proud of him! he now joins the likes of Hitler, Saddam, Pol Pot and the other infamous. Yes, Malaysia Boleh!!!!!!!!

Look like all evidence go under water like a submarine! Luckily Malaysia bought diesel submarines and not nuclear. Because of the slow submarine, at least little information ada come out and now explode like C4!. What will other countries think of us Malaysians? Tak pe kita semua buat standard Malaysian practice – which is the present trend – DENY EVERYTHING in toto!……modus operandi of the govern…… sorry le don wan to write after kena sedition act or ISA, defamation suit pun boleh or worse still what the police shove up a person’s A##, while in remand (itu semua in the order of Nature).

Scorpene submarines sebab they run on diesel sikit ada slow. therefore ada blow up, but what about the supersonic Sukhoi fighters, how many more blown up Mongolian skeletons are going to prop up? Long live Genghis Khan.

Royal Commission boleh set up to investigate. Tapi semua witnesses testify 4 words only – ” Garbage…I deny everything” ! long live the ostrich hiding its head in the dirt! Apa macam mau investigate???

I have fantastic flash in pan (this does not always happen) We will have matresses airflown from Paris with semen stains and parade them before the Royal Commission. Deja vu….something like this happened sometime back….either I was not born then or I was too young…. I forget easily….Whatever? That is the Malaysian thing to do…forget easily…… this together with an ability to deny everything and ‘organise’ court prceedingss are the main ingredients of our Malaysia Boleh! its what we do best.

Tapi every man is guilty until proven innocent or is it the other way around, I’m not sure anymore. Or does it depend on who is being charged….

With due regards to our right honourary deputy prime Minstral (sorry not good at spelling ), He will be innocent until proven further innocent by our kangaroo ….. oops! sorry our Malaysian judicial system (notice all small letters). So he is INNOCENT , and that is the end of cerita. Better write this and be a true Malaysian. After I also kena sodomy charge.

The Malaysian judiciary, the police and AG semua have the spirit of Malaysia Boleh and they boleh bela the right honourary deputy prime minstral. After all Malaysia Boleh was so strongly instilled in us, by the person Raja Petra cites as running around with his pants on fire. What is his name la? See like a true Malaysian, very short memory!. Was his name Marmaduke? no can’t be – I like that cartoon too much. Marmaduke is too cute a name for ‘hot pants’ but the species is probably the same.

I apologise to the right authorities for various crimes committed by me here in this blog. Pleeeaase don’t send me to jail for offences against the order of nature (like everything in the present government’s administration is}. We the rakyat are dumb! regardless of race we have no intelligence. yes we are only expected to listen to the media.

I have seventeen grandmothers, 25 uncles, 13 cats, 41 cousins, one dog, three prawns, a hamster, one wife and a kid to look after. And I am the sole bread winner. They all depend on me. If I was a high ranking person in the govern….opps wrong word I will have the Police, AG, the pm, dpm coming up to support the garbage I wrote in this paragraph.

And one more thing I promise I do not have any Mongolian girlfriends. Long live the Malaysian Reconstitution….opps sorry le the Malaysian Constitution. I really feel for the family of that murdered girl.

OK le, let’s come to a conclusion. Yesterday my son told me that a MIG 29 landed in our back yard. I said “wow, thats interesting, what else happened”? What else do we as rakyat are supposed to say about Balasubramaniam withdrawing his SD.

  23. James' whatheblog Says:

Sorry, things happen so fast, I made a mistake in writing that Balasubramaniam had the same lawyers before the SD and later when withdrawing the SD. I was wrong.

So Balasubramaniam has now a new lawyer whose name is quite a mouthful. From my resources, I am told that this new lawyer is affectionately known as Aru. He studied law at Holborn Law Tutors, London, reading the University of London (external law degree). He happen to stay at a private Methodist student hostel at Lambeth Road, next to the famous Lambeth Road Pub.
He is married to a French woman known as Veronique. I am also told that he completed his CLP, to qualify as an Advocate and Solicitor of The High Court Of Malaya.

The Legal Profession must be respected, and he is. He has opened a brief on a very controversial case and we respect him for it. Only we as citizens would like to know more about this lawyer. He surely is famous now, does anybody else know more about him???
