Dr. M admitting before an audience that he had Anwar Ibrahim arrested all those years back without any basis???!!
Is this for real? It looks genuine. Could it just be a lookalike, soundalike actor?
Or is it really Dr. M, just being dryly sarcastic? He does seem super selamba (very nonchalant) about admitting it… As if it were a non-issue that bears no consequences for him. The audience laughs at the mention of throwing Anwar into detention.

UPDATE 5 March 2008: Dr. M claims that the video clip is a distortion and taken out of context, though he does not explain what he means by that, or how the context nullifies the ‘Saya Zalim Anwar’ statement. Perhaps he was performing a stand-up routine?

Not because there was any wrongdoing by Dato’ Seri Anwar. Not at all…
Therefore, it was an unjust/wrong act.
He also has some words about Abdullah Badawi, Khairy and Malaysia’s 2008 General Elections – and says to cheers from the crowd that he has never apologized to Badawi.
A pretty jolly crowd throughout the latter part of the speech, obviously in agreement with Dr. M.

What Mahathir says now or said in his 22 years is actually a measure of Machiavellian spin. He was the indelible milestone for Bolehland’s expansion in vocal sophistry. As such, he’s no moral compass for anyone who has a mind and uses it.

That’s a wise move for Dr. Mahathir.
If nothing happen after he step down, that fat resources we’ve had for 50 yrs will be misuse.
He must pushed Anwar beyond the limit so that he can see the good and bad faces. Opposition & BN are the pillars of our nation.
A successful nation, never in history happen. Many countries resort to violence, war, and ethnic cleansing.
Malaysia is lucky.

some of my colleagues were watching this video in the office but i was less interested to know. i knew it could be some smart ass work of editing what Dr M said. I mean how relaxed could he be abt it and dont you think it would have caused much rage among ppl for the injustice that may have happened. why put more oil into fire?? why waste time in expanding differences when all we want is a united and peaceful country to live in. do you wish to see Malaysia end up like other war-torn countries? do u wish to live in fear? we should try to appreciate what we have and eventhough there may be certain things that needs to be sorted out lets ensure that it gets done and not waste time on things like this.

stuffed, I’ll give you one simple reason why we should care… One day, it might be YOU thrown into the lockup for 5 years without trial, and the politician who ordered you arrested never brought to account for it.
It is only by fighting against all injustice that we can live without fear. Quoting May 13 1969 and ISA arrest is using fear as a weapon.

Sir Scott, he was being sarcastic la. He was talking about how Pak Lah abusing his position and enriching his cronies, abuse of power etc. Then he said Pak Lah and his 4th floor boys were condemning him for abuse of power too. Then he said show him proof – and then he went on sarcastically abt him abusing anwar.
The sentence was taken out of context. That was why the audience were laughing. If he was serious, if the speech was an admission of some sorts, the audience would have their mouths gaped opened!
This is just some editing job done by people who has vested interests in smearing his name.

Salam utk semua
dan salam sejahtera utk selainnya.
Pertama sekali ingin saya nyatakan, saya ini hanya sebagai pemerhati saja dalam kemelut politik tanah air. Saya tidak menyokong sesiapa sahaja yang mengaibkan orang lain bahkan mengaibkan apa makhluk sekali pun termasuk khinzir atau anjing kurap. Kerana kalau kita mengaibkan/memburukkan makhluk2 ini bermakna kita juga mengaibkan/memburukkan PENCIPTANYA – ALLAH swt.
Berbalik kpd kenyataan mantan Dr. M dengan selambanya menyatakan perkara berikut kemudian menafikan video itu dengan menyatakan ianya telah diputarbelitkan.
1. “Polis jadi alat Kerajaan!”
2. “Saya juga menyalahguna kuasa masa saya dulu!”
3. “Datuk Seri Anwar saya tangkap …semua orang nampak …..saya taruk dalam tahanan …bukan ada sebab apa-apa pun …takdak sebab apa pun …bukan ada kesalahan apa pun yg dilakukan oleh Dato’ Seri Anwar. Takdak lansung…”
Ulasan saya adalah mudah sahaja:
…..Semua ini adalah kerja Allah. Yang menggerakkan lidah mantan Dr. M menyatakan 3 perkara diatas, kerja Allah juga. Kamu yang mengaku, kemudian apabila “nafsu” kamu sedar semula, kamu menidakkannya. Sebenarnya itulah “Kalimah-Kalimah Allah” yang sebenarnya datang dari mulut makhluk yang mudah untuk mengaibkan ciptaan-ciptaanNya.
Saya sendiri sangat khuatir apa yg akan dihadapi oleh mantan Dr. M dimasa-masa mendatang ini serta saya sebagai pemerhati disuruh menyaksikan sendiri betapa Maha Agung, Maha Suci Allah bagaimana Dia memperlihatkan kekuasaanNya keatas makhluk angkuh yang bernama Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad.
Saya sendiri berasa begitu insaf dan sedar akan kelemahan2 diri kita yang kita zalimi setiap saat akan di balas di akhirat nanti. Tetapi bagi makhluk ciptaanNya yg kita zalimi dimukabumi ini mungkin “diBicara dan diAdili” dan mungkin akan “diBalas” dimuka bumi ini juga. Maka kita semua sebenarnya telah di kejutkan untuk menyaksikan kebesaranNya bagi mereka yang “ingat” dan “tahu”.
Saya berdoa dan berharap Tun Dr. M cepat2lah sedar dan kembali kepadaNYA semasa peluang, ruang, masa, kesihatan masih lagi diberiNYA.

Kepada semua yang melatah melihat video ucapan Tun, cubalah cari rakaman video sepenuhnya. Kemudian barulah dapat kita nilaikan isi sebenar ucapan Tun. Jangan ambil sebahagian dan abaikan sebahagian darinya.
Sama seperti kita membaca tafsiran ayat Al-Quran. Jika dibaca cuma sebahagian sahaja tanpa memperdulikan maksud keseluruhan ayat itu maka akan jadi lain tafsirannya. Fikir-fikirkanlah….

Tun Mahathir played politics very well. He ruled, abuse, resign, remose…hopefully fully repent and then finally rest in peace. Remember, he offered himself to resign from the PM post after he positioned his subsequent action to his benefit. All seem to fall in place…..but slowly but surely GOD audit and edit…so he lost his crooked bridge, pave way for Anwar to be freed, tried to crawl back to power…but unsuccessful. Now pushing his luck with his son. Will he restore power to Tun’s dynasty? Let’s leave it to GOD.

Inilah yg dinamakan soal politik.. persoalanny hanya Tun saja yang tahu kenapa harus dia bertindak sedemikian menjatuhkan anwar dgn cara yang tdk betul.. apakah niat sebenarny.. mgkin jg kita blh anggap sebagai satu konspirasi dan niat jahat kerana anwar tahu segalanya keburukan dan perkara2 yang bercanggah dengan prinsip Tun.. tapi malangya Tun harus berfikir.. smpai bilakah Tun terus menerus bermain dengan kancah plitik sedangkan umur dah berapa dah.. dah nak sampai garis penamat cukup2 la tu.. coz hidup kita di dunia ni hanya sementara dan wayang semata2 so.. jangan ikut orang buat silap dan lupakan semuanya..
