A GROUP of 200 Shi’ite followers have been arrested by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), reported Utusan Malaysia.

The arrests were made during a raid at the fourth floor of a shophouse in Taman Sri Gombak, Batu Caves in Selangor on Thursday.

Among those arrested in the 10.15pm raid were 75 men and 35 women – locals, Indonesians, Myanmars and Pakistanis – were nabbed. The rest were children.

Also held were the congregation’s two leaders, one of them an Iranian.

Dozens of other members climbed out of windows to avoid being arrested.

Members of the group, which called itself Hauzah Ar Ridha Alaihissalam, included lecturers, students of higher learning institutions, lawyers and government employees.

Jais director Datuk Muhammad Khusrin Munawi called the group “fanatics and a threat to national security” whose members were led to believe that other Islamic sects were infidels.

Muhammad Khusrin said the arrests were the largest of its kind of deviant groups in the country.

He added that the department believed similar cells were active in other states.

Shi’ite teachings are outlawed under the Administration of Islamic Law Enactment 1989 for deviating from Sunni Islam views of aqidah and syariah.

So to be clear, Shi’ite Islam is not allowed because it considers other Islamic sects wrong, and also because it has teachings which Sunni Islam considers wrong.

In other news, there’s only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people’s cultures… And the Dutch.

Also, only bigots cannot accept that others might have different opinions, and you could possibly disagree with me on that then you are stupid.

Blabbing the evidence of what everyone already knows is just plain impolite. Allow me to explain.

Sure, we all should be honest and not talk behind peoples back. But who can claim to be innocent? Have you ever praised your boss to his face but later joked with your colleagues how dumb his idea actually is? Well, how would you feel if one of your buddies later snitched to the boss? And with video evidence no less? Hey, it’s your own fault right?

Oops, someone just hacked all the ‘secrets’ sites and exposed the real identity of those confessing to the world! Too bad, you shouldn’t even have such naughty secrets. Freedom of speech, go!

I will only change my view if Wikileaks releases all their confidential internal memos and emails for public scrutiny, including all details of Assange’s juicy private life. In the interest of freedom of information of course.

Otherwise, just another attention-whoring bunch of hypocrites.

But as Unenlightened Commentary points out, that would mean that Aslan is a visual depiction of Mohammad and a fatwa should be issued against the entire Narnia series.

KANGAR — Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim today called for the blocking of the Facebook social networking website if its contents continue to pose a threat to national security.

He said a Facebook account holder was found to have taken advantage of the technology to insult Islam and leaders of Malaysia.

“If the website content poses a threat to national security and insults Islam, then it is unnecessary to have Facebook,” he told reporters after accompanying Perlis Facebook Association committee members to lodge a report at the Kangar police station on the insults hurled at Prime Minister Seri Najib Razak and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on a Facebook page.

The report was lodged by the association’s deputy president, Mohd Faizuddin Ismail, at about 5.30 pm.

Shahidan said a report would also be lodged at the State Islamic Religious Department as the holder of the Facebook account had also insulted Islam, and added that the insults hurled at Najib and Mahathir were discovered by a member of the association on November 29.

Shahidan, who is Tambun Tulang assemblyman, said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the Malaysian Islamic Development Department and the National Fatwa Council should act against the holder of the Facebook account. — Bernama
