So…
Few people understand the contemporary global warming phenomenon, and fewer still realise the seriousness of its effect on the Earth.
But if you get suckered into listening to this MCA talk, you’re going to be worse off than an ignoramus as they fill your head with utter falsehoods, outright inaccuracies and blatant lies.
On a tip from Soon.

From The Star 12 Jan 2008:
FEW people understand the contemporary global warming phenomenon, and fewer still realise the seriousness of its effect on the Earth.
Hence, the MCA life-long learning reading club is holding a forum on the issue at the MCA 9-point party platform exhibition at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur during the Jan 19-20 weekend.
The forum is conceptualised around the book “An Inconvenient Truth” by former US vice-president Al Gore, who is now a world ambassador for environmental matters.
Tzu-Chi Foundation volunteers who have been actively involved in recycling campaigns have been invited to share their experience at the forum.

Tan Chee Wei, an administrative executive of the KL branch of Taiwan Buddhist Tzu-Chi Foundation Malaysia, will be speaking at the Mandarin session from 4.30pm to 6pm on Jan 20.
He will also present a video clip on the Tzu-Chi recycling work.
Two other volunteers – senior bank manager Wong Mun Heng and construction company executive director Robert Chong – will speak at the English session from 5.30pm to 7pm on Jan 19.
“Reading can lead one to a lot of things, including awareness and actions to be taken but real action is another matter,” said Chong, a volunteer in the Tzu-Chi recycling work.
“We encourage people to take simple action – such as using buckets of water to wash cars instead of using big water pipes. These are simple effects and efforts to use our resources and all of us share the responsibility to saving the mother earth,” he said.
Wong, a volunteer with Tzu-Chi since 1999, said that people needed to simplify their lifestyle to reduce pollution to lead a better life.
“Everyone knows the world has changed but have not realised that it is changing at a faster pace lately. Time is not on our side,” he said.
The two-session forum is one of the events in the MCA 9-point party platform exhibition held in conjunction with the National Youth Entrepreneur Convention.
The exhibition covers life-long learning, revitalising education, Chinese language education, economic competitiveness, development and promotion of culture, new villages development, a just and caring society and the concept of rakyat Malaysia.

Effects of global warming? I’ll tell you the effects of global warming. Snow, ice, blizzards, frost and freezing to death, that’s what global warming does.
What? Didn’t they get the memo? It was in the news, locally and worldwide, if they even bother to read it except to see their own smiling faces in there.
The world is changing at a faster pace? Since when does everything’s the same as before count as an acceleration towards doomsday? ‘The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as 2006 and every year since 2001’.
As for recycling, yes it’s a good thing to do and all. But if the aim is solely to stop (non-existant) global warming, recycling will make things worse as it recycling uses up more carbon-emitting energy than fresh manufacture! (Except for steel and aluminium.)
The extreme end result of focusing on removing all carbon from the atmosphere? Burying the etntire world’s forests for the sake of Mother Gaia.
If the MCA is recommending trash like An Inconvenient Truth – which is wholly debunked, 35 times over – its reading club members better double check how good their book recommendatiosn really are.
Or as Soon says: If these MCA folks are serious truth seekers, they best search twice and know what they havee been fed.
Utter total uneducated and gullible idiocy. But then, what do we expect from politicians?
Cuh. I’d write to The Star to set them straight, but then the lower-ranking, Gore-washed editors in charge of filtering the letters would likely throw it out, or worse – edit it.
Can someone attend the MCA talk in KL and spread the real truth?
Not to disrupt the activities or anything, just raise some pertinent questions about the statistical no-rise-in-temperature, the historic 400-year lag where temperatures rise then CO2 levels rise, the spate of cold and snow wordlwide, Al Gore’s massive hypocritical use of resources while telling us our miniscule use is dooming the planet…
With info-filled print outs for all attendees.
Talk not disrupted, per se, but hijacked.
